ICs ideal for Laptops
Laptops (Notebook PCs, NBPCs) use high-capacity lithium-ion batteries to achieve long operating time, which could lead to serious accidents in the event of heat generation or fire. Therefore, a secondary protection IC is used in combination with a protection fuse to prevent dangerous conditions even if the IC monitoring the battery (primary protection IC) fails.
