An automotive watchdog timer (WDT) is a timer that monitors automotive microcontroller (MCU) programs to see if they are out of control or have stopped operating. It constantly watches over the MCU to ensure it is operating normally.
ABLIC's automotive watchdog timers (WDTs) offer selectable time-out and window modes and come equipped with a reset function. Our lineup also includes 3-in-1 chips that integrate an LDO regulator, a reset function, and a WDT, with options for different output currents. Additional features include a WADJ pin for autonomously enabling/disabling the WDT based on load current, an ON/OFF circuit, a low current consumption of 5.0 μA typ. during WDT operation, and high withstand 36V operation with a 45V rating.
Moreover, our automotive WDTs are AEC-Q100 qualified and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) capable. This ensures high quality and reliability, making them suitable for safety critical components such as BMS and EPS motors. We also support customers' automotive application designs through thermal simulation service and the provision of FIT rate.
