Block circuit | ICs ideal for Cordless Power Tools | Major Features
Cordless power tools are widely used both in the home and the workplace. Cordless power tools must be tough, compact and light weight, and also need long-lasting batteries. Safe operation and safety functions are also indispensable. ABLIC supplies a wide range of ICs that are ideal for electric screwdrivers and other cordless power tools. We provide a full line of linear regulators suitable for powering motor control microcontrollers, Hall effect ICs for detecting motor rotation and rotation direction, Rail-to-Rail input CMOS operational amplifiers for calculating current. These ICs all feature low current consumption and compact size to contribute to long life of cordless power tool batteries and compact tool size. Our lineup also includes a great number of battery monitoring ICs for improving the safety of lithium-ion battery packs and secondary protection ICs that provide dual overcharge protection for even greater safety. They also ensure that applications using them comply with UL, IEC and other safety standards. ABLIC supplies a comprehensive range of ICs, from motor control through to battery monitoring that are all specially designed for electric power tools.

Major Features
Battery Protection IC S-82B4/5, S-82C4/5, S-8245/55
Temperature protection
Power saving function
Temperature protection
A single connection of an NTC thermistor to the temperature detector pin enables 4-temperature monitoring.
Power-saving function
An external signal allows you to switch to low current consumption mode (0.1uA max.). During battery pack shipment, this function prevents consumption of battery capacity by dark current.

ZCL™ Hall Effect IC S-576Z
high-temperature
High-speed
High-accuracy
This ZCL™ hall effect IC supports all the features required by electric power tools: high-temperature operation, high-speed response, high-accuracy magnetic sensitivity and realization of high efficiency motor.
Omnipolar / Unipolar Detection Type Hall Effect Switch IC S-5712
Low voltage operation
When combined with a magnet, this IC simplifies implementation of contact-less switches that is a requirement in dust-proof and water-proof electric power tools.
Omnipolar / Unipolar Detection Type Hall Effect Switch IC S-5718
Switchable detection pole
This switchable detection pole function hall effect switch IC can distinguish the magnetic polarity of a wide variety of battery packs.
Voltage Detector S-1009
Low power consumption
A current consumption as low as 270nA minimizes the load of, for example, battery monitoring.
Watchdog Timer S-1410/1
Microcontroller monitoring
This timer monitors microcontroller operation by checking the edge that is regularly input to the microcontroller. Two modes are provided: Timeout mode that determines an error has occurred only when the interval between edge inputs is too long and Window mode that determines an error has occurred also when the interval between edge inputs is too short.
