ICs ideal for e-Bike / e-Scooter
Battery life is of paramount for e-bikes / e-scooters (electric assist bicycles). Battery life is affected by the frequency of use of the vehicle and the number of times the battery is charged. However, special attention should be paid to high temperatures and overdischarge. Repeated charging and discharging for long periods of time at high temperatures will degrade the battery and shorten its lifespan. In addition, if a battery is left uncharged for a long period of time, the standby current will cause the battery to discharge, leading to battery deterioration. Therefore, it is important to reduce the current consumption of the protection circuit.
ABLIC offers numerous battery protection ICs with functions optimized for e-bikes / e-scooters. These include a temperature protection function that detects external temperature and controls charging and discharging, a power-saving function that switches to standby current reduction mode through external control, and a secondary protection IC with low current consumption that supports the cascade connection.
